Section G: Dress Code

1.0 General Principles

1.1 Importance of Uniform

• The school uniform fosters a sense of identity, discipline, and equality among students.
• Students must always adhere to the dress code during school hours, events, and activities unless otherwise specified.

1.2 Accountability

• Students are responsible for ensuring that their attire is neat, clean, and complete in accordance with the school dress code.
• Non-compliance will lead to corrective actions.

2.0 Mandatory Dress Code

2.1 School Uniform

• Students must wear the full school uniform every day. This includes:
  • Shirt/Blouse: Clean, neatly ironed, and always tucked in.
  • Tie: Wearing the school tie is mandatory and must be properly fastened.
  • Pants/Skirts: Must be part of the official school uniform and worn appropriately.
• Uniform must not be altered in a way that changes its design, length, or fit.

2.2 School Jacket

• Only the official school jacket is permitted to be worn during school hours.
• Students who do not own a school jacket must purchase one directly from the school.
• No other jackets, hoodies, or sweatshirts are allowed on the school premises.

2.3 Shoes and Socks

• Students must wear polished black school shoes with plain white socks.
• Sandals, flip-flops, or open-toed shoes are not allowed unless for medical reasons with prior approval.

2.4 Accessories

• Accessories must be simple and non-distracting. This includes:
  • Jewellery: Small, stud earrings for girls are permitted. Other jewellery (e.g., bracelets, rings) is not allowed.
  • Watches: Basic wristwatches are permitted. Smartwatches are not allowed unless approved for educational purposes.
  • Belts: Only plain black belts are permitted for boys with pants.

3.0 Grooming and Personal Appearance

3.1 Hair Guidelines

• Hair must be neat, clean, and appropriately styled:
  • Boys: Hair must be short and well-groomed. Extreme hairstyles, such as dyed or spiked hair, are prohibited.
  • Girls: Long hair must be tied back neatly using plain black or white hairbands.
• Hair dye or highlights of any unnatural colour are strictly not allowed.

3.2 Nails

• Nails must be short and clean. Coloured nail polish or fake nails are not permitted.

3.3 Makeup

• Students are not allowed to wear makeup during school hours. This includes foundation, lipstick, mascara, and eyeliner.

4.0 Special Attire for Specific Events

4.1 Sports and Physical Education (PE)

• Students must wear the designated PE uniform for sports activities. This includes:
  • Red ECA shirt with black shorts or pants.
  • Proper sports shoes.

4.2 School Events and Assemblies

• For formal events such as assemblies, ceremonies, and official functions, students must wear their complete school uniform, including the tie and polished shoes.

4.3 Cultural or Thematic Days

• Special attire may be permitted for themed days or cultural events with prior approval from the school administration.

5.0 Consequences for Violation

5.1 First Offense

• Verbal warning and a note sent to the parents/guardians.

5.2 Second Violation

• Written warning recorded in the student’s file.
• Parents/guardians will be contacted, and students may be required to remain out of class until the dress code is corrected.

5.3 Repeated Violations

• Students will be issued detention or suspended from participating in extracurricular activities until compliance is ensured.
• In extreme cases, students may be sent home to change.

5.4 Improper Jackets

• Non-school jackets will be confiscated and returned at the end of the day.
• Repeat offenders will require parental intervention.
