Section F: Extracurricular Participation

1.0 General Principles

1.1 Importance of Participation

• Extracurricular activities (ECA) are essential for the holistic development of students, promoting teamwork, leadership, and physical fitness.
• Participation in ECA is considered a privilege and must be treated with responsibility and discipline.

1.2 Attendance and Punctuality

• Students must attend all scheduled ECA sessions, practices, and events punctually.
• Regular attendance is mandatory to remain eligible for participation in competitions or school events.

2.0 Arrival and Attendance

2.1 Arrival Time

• Students participating in activities at Tebrau Bubble Complex Sports Centre must arrive no later than 8:15 AM.
• Students arriving late without valid reasons will not be allowed to participate for the day and may face consequences for repeated lateness.
• Teachers or coaches will maintain an attendance log for each ECA session.

3.0 Dress Code and Equipment

3.1 Mandatory Attire

• Students must wear the designated red ECA shirt with black shorts or pants during all ECA sessions.
• Students must wear sports shoes during all ECA sessions.
• Students not wearing the proper attire will not be permitted to participate in the session.

3.2 Personal Equipment

• Students must bring the necessary equipment required for their specific activities (e.g., sports shoes, badminton racquet, basketball).
• All equipment must be in good condition and labelled with the student’s name to avoid loss or mix-ups.

3.3 Maintenance of Attire and Equipment

• Students must ensure their attire is clean, and any borrowed school equipment must be returned in good condition.

4.0 Conduct during Activities

4.1 Respect for Coaches and Peers

• Students must follow instructions provided by coaches, teachers, and team leaders promptly and respectfully.
• Demonstrating rude or disruptive behaviour during activities will not be tolerated.

4.2 Sportsmanship and Teamwork

• Students are expected to display good sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect towards opponents during practices or competitions.
• Any form of aggressive or unsportsmanlike conduct (e.g., arguing with referees, friends, or teammates) will result in disciplinary action.

4.3 Focus and Effort

• Students must actively participate and give their best effort in all activities, avoiding distractions and time-wasting behaviours.

5.0 Eligibility and Commitment

5.1 Eligibility Criteria

• Students must maintain good behaviour, academic performance, and regular attendance in school to remain eligible for ECA participation.
• Students failing to meet academic or behavioural standards may be temporarily suspended from activities until improvements are observed.

5.2 Commitment to Participation

• Once enrolled in an activity, students are expected to attend all practices, competitions, and related events unless excused with prior approval.
• Students who wish to withdraw from an activity must provide a written request signed by a parent/guardian and approved by the ECA coordinator.

6.0 Safety and Health

6.1 Health and Safety Precautions

• Students must report any injuries or health concerns to their coaches or teachers immediately.
• Coaches will ensure safety measures are in place during activities to prevent injuries.

6.2 Medical Emergencies

• Students with pre-existing medical conditions must inform the school and provide medical clearance before participating in physical activities.
• In the event of injury, immediate care will be provided, and parents/guardians will be notified.

7.0 Consequences for Non-Compliance

7.1 Violation of Rules

• First Violation: Verbal warning and record in the attendance log.
• Second Violation: Parental notification and temporary exclusion from the activity.
• Third Violation: Suspension from ECA for the remainder of the term.

7.2 Damage to Facilities or Equipment

• Students responsible for intentional damage must bear the cost of repair or replacement.

8.0 Consequences of Violation

8.1 Violation of Rules

• First Violation: Verbal warning and record in attendance log.
• Second Violation: Parental notification and temporary exclusion from the activity (1 week).
• Third Violation: Suspension from extracurricular activities for the remainder of the term.

8.2 Damage to Facilities or Equipment

• Financial restitution for repair/replacement.
• Written warning and temporary suspension from activities.

8.3 Repeated Non-Compliance

• Full suspension from all extracurricular activities until behaviour improves.
